Instead of throwing away your candle jars when the wax has reached the bottom of your jar, did you know candle jars can be recycled and re used to store household items such as mini flower vases, flower pots, pens and makeup brushes. Simply remove the wax and wick, clean the jar and voila!
Here’s 2 simple ways to clean your candle jar.
- Freezing Method: Once the candle has reached 1/4’ and has resolidified, place the jar in your freezer for a few hours. Once the wax is frozen, use a knife or a wick dipper to scoop up the sides and remove the wax from the jar. Use warm water and a paper towel to wipe down the jar before reusing. *Bonus tip - you can break up the wax and use it as wax melts.
- Boiling Method: Once the candle has reached 1/4 inches of wax, use a disposable knife to scoop out the remaining wax and fill it with hot water, let it sit for a few minutes before disposing of the water(outside, not down the drain. Use a disposable scrub or paper towel to clean the inside of the jar before reusing.
Now that you’ve removed the wax and cleaned the jars, they are now ready to be used! You can decorate them as you want and use them to store items.
Hope you enjoyed these tips on how to reuse your candle jars.
